Fly to Kutaisi, the closest airport to Bakhmaro. Transfers can also be arranged from Batumi or Tbilisi. A driver will meet you at the airport and take you to the village of Chkhakaura.
Transfer times are approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from Kutaisi, 2.5 hours from Batumi, and 6 hours from Tbilisi. From Chkhakaura, the journey continues by snowcat, the only way to reach Bakhmaro in winter. After about one hour through snowy mountain scenery, you’ll arrive at the lodge.

After breakfast, the day begins with a full safety briefing and a 2-hour avalanche search and rescue drill. Once everyone is comfortable with the equipment and procedures, the group will check transceivers, load the snowcat, and head out for the first runs.
The day often starts on Mount Buksieti, around 2,400 meters, located just 20 minutes from the lodge by snowcat. After several runs and a mountain lunch, the group may continue toward Mount Gadrekili, at 2,508 meters.

The beech forest is one of the best areas in Bakhmaro, especially in changing weather. Its north-facing, tree-covered slopes offer good visibility and excellent snow conditions.
Expect multiple powder laps through beautiful forest terrain, with each run offering a different feel and rhythm.

Mount Sakornia, at 2,950 meters, is the highest peak in the Bakhmaro area and offers some of the longest descents, with up to 1,000 meters of vertical drop.
The snowcat ascent takes around 50 to 60 minutes. On clear days, the summit rewards the group with spectacular panoramic views before skiing a variety of long, exciting descents.

Mount Papara is located around 20 minutes from Bakhmaro and offers a great mix of open slopes, forested terrain, and snow-covered cabins.
Depending on snow and weather conditions, the group will look for powder runs, playful terrain, and natural jumps to add variety to the day.
Accommodation: Mountain lodge Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 6 focuses on more varied terrain. For stronger skiers, there may be opportunities to ski gullies and steeper forest lines. If the group prefers a more relaxed pace, the guides can choose softer, more open powder runs.
Accommodation: Mountain lodge Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
The last ski day starts early to make the most of the remaining time in the mountains. The group will enjoy a few runs on Sunset Mountain before skiing through the trees of Sajavakho Forest.

Accommodation
During the trip, you’ll stay in a mountain lodge in Bakhmaro, surrounded by snowy forests and remote winter landscapes.
The lodge offers single, double, and triple rooms with a warm, functional atmosphere designed for active mountain stays. It also has spacious common areas, including a dining room, bar area, and shared spaces to relax after skiing. A sauna is available, making it the perfect place to unwind after long days in the snow.
More info
Temperatures in Bakhmaro usually range from -1°C to -10°C, but can drop to around -20°C on colder days. Bring warm technical layers, waterproof outerwear, extra gloves, a hat or headband, and spare socks. You can leave extra clothing in the snowcat during the day, and the lodge is warm and comfortable, with heating and a central stove.
Ski, snowboard, touring, and avalanche safety equipment can be rented locally, including freeride skis, snowboards, touring skis with skins, avalanche backpacks, transceivers, shovels, and probes. Prices are around €25 per day per equipment type. An airbag backpack is mandatory, so please inform us in advance if you need to rent one, along with your boot size, height, and preferred ski length.
Each group is led by IFMGA/GMGA-certified guides trained in avalanche prevention, first aid, and mountain rescue. The usual ratio is 1 guide per 6 participants, with a lead and tail guide. The first day includes a safety briefing and avalanche equipment practice, and transceivers are checked every morning. Full avalanche safety equipment and mountain rescue insurance are mandatory. Helmets are strongly recommended.
Meals can be adapted for allergies or dietary restrictions, but we need to know in advance. Since Bakhmaro is remote and supplies are transported by snowcat, early notice is essential. Please note that the kitchen may contain traces of nuts, gluten, dairy, or other allergens, so a completely allergen-free environment cannot be guaranteed.
Wi-Fi is available at the lodges in Bakhmaro and at hotels in Kutaisi, Batumi, and Tbilisi, though occasional outages can happen due to the remote location. Mobile coverage varies, but Magti generally works well in Georgia. We recommend getting a local SIM or eSIM on arrival, as some European SIM cards may not connect reliably.
In addition to your regular travel gear, we recommend bringing:
If you use a CamelBak-style hydration system, please note that the tube may freeze in cold conditions. We recommend carrying an additional water bottle.

Brutal experience!
An incredible experience led by Nuria Picas, who was excellent in her sporting skills and also demonstrated great knowledge of Montblanc.
100% Recommended! A week-long experience with a group of 15 mountain enthusiasts, led by world-renowned expert Nuria Picas, who stands out not only for her professionalism and talent but also for her warmth and personal touch. She fostered a fantastic atmosphere within the group, making all participants feel included. This activity is highly recommended, both for exploring the Tour du Mont Blanc and for preparing for the UTMB race, as well as for disconnecting for a few days, meeting people with similar interests, and learning from others, which is always incredibly enriching. Special mention must be made of the warm and friendly service from the entire b4experience team, who ensured we had everything we needed so we could focus solely on running and enjoying each day.
The best experience of my life. Superbly organized, Núria Picas gets a 10/10, 100% recommended.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
