Description

Come explore Masherbrum, the uniquely shaped mountain with a double summit that resembles a pair of horns. This short and easy trek into the heart of the Karakoram is an incredible opportunity to discover the wild corners of Pakistan.

The trek offers stunning views of the Karakoram Mountains, including the iconic Masherbrum peak. The Hushe valley is a beautiful and peaceful place, and the locals are known for their hospitality.

The trek is relatively easy, making it a good option for beginners or those who are not in peak physical condition. The only glacier walking is a straightforward 30-minute section before base camp.

A certified local guide will lead the group throughout the K1 Basecamp trek. The guide will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the group, and will be accompanied by a support crew, including a cook, kitchen staff, and porters. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Islamabad International Airport

Upon arriving at Islamabad International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you will have some leisure time to relax and recover from your journey. You can explore the hotel grounds, take a nap, or go for a walk around the city.

Day 2: Explore Skardu

On Day 2, you will fly from Islamabad Airport to Skardu (a 1-hour scenic flight). After arriving in Skardu, you will have a free day to explore the city and do some shopping. You can visit the Manthal Rock Buddha, the Kharpocho Fort, the Organic Village, and the Skardu Bazar. If the flight is cancelled due to weather, you will drive from Islamabad via the Karakoram Highway, stopping at various tourist attractions along the way.

Day 3: Drive to Hushe Valley

After breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Hushe Valley. Along the way, we will pass through small villages and witness the diverse cultural heritage of the Ganche District. We will make short stops at the meeting point of the Shayok and Indus Rivers, Thorong La Pass, and the Sailung Glacier. We will check into our hotel in Hushe in the evening and have some free time.

Day 4: Trek to Dumsum

Start the trek from Hushe village, passing through the beautiful Hushe Valley. Set up camp in Dumsum (3400m). In the afternoon, go for an optional hike to the Aling glacier (1-2 hours). Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the natural surroundings. Overnight in camps.

Day 5: Trekking in Masherbrum Glacier

Trek through the remote, mountainous terrain parallel to the Masherbrum Glacier.

Day 6: Masherbrum Base Camp

After breakfast at the campsite, start the trek to Masherbrum Base Camp (4200m) through a beautiful trail, parallel to the Masherbrum Glacier. In the afternoon, have free time to visit the base camp lake and nearby viewpoints.

Day 7: Trek back to Dumsum

Return to Dumsum while making brief pauses for photography along the way.

Day 8: Hiking in Hushe

Hike back to Hushe, then proceed with a drive to Khaplu. Relish a delightful lunch at Khaplu Fort before continuing the journey to Skardu, where you will check in to your hotel.

Day 9: Flight to Islamabad

Take a flight from Skardu to Islamabad, and upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. After enjoying lunch, embark on a sightseeing tour.

Day 10: Contingency Day

If the flight from Skardu to Islamabad is cancelled due to weather, we will travel by road. If the flight is not cancelled, we will have some sightseeing options in Islamabad, such as visiting the Taxila Museum and archaeological sites. Your leader will advise you on the best option based on your interests and the weather conditions.

Day 11: Return to Islamabad International Airport

Following breakfast, we'll arrange the transportation from the hotel to the airport for your international flights.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
