I know the province of Mendoza as the palm of my hand. That’s why I can guarantee Arenales is one of the best traditional rock climbing spots of the Andes.

Arenales offers perfect granite walls to enjoy one or more days of traditional rock climbing. Besides, its surroundings are really wild with stunning landscapes.

This rock climbing area is at 130 km of Mendoza capital and has an elevation of 2.800 meters. Most of the South American climbers choose this place due to the high quality of its climbing routes. Some of them are walls of more than 500 meters long.

Moreover, those routes are well equipped to ensure the safest experience and many of them offers amazing cracks so that you can live a great climb on a big wall.

This trip is suitable for climber with some knowledge in rappelling, climbing and belaying. And, of course, it is also necessary to count on a very good physical shape.

I am a guide with a lot of experience in Andean climbs, so I will recommend some of the best routes of Arenales:

  • Carlos Daniel, 270 m. Difficulty: 6a (5.10b)
  • Campanile, 220 m. Difficulty: 6a (5.10b)
  • Charles Webis, 220 m. Difficulty: 6b (5.10d)
  • El Cohete, 500 m. Difficulty: 6a/b (5.10 b/d)
