Have you always wanted to try climbing, but need a knowledgeable climber and guide to show you the ropes? This is your chance: during my 3 day introductory course you will have the opportunity to begin your climbing education and try some routes on outdoor rocks!
Franconia is an incredible destination for climbers of all levels, but it is especially good for beginners, as the type of rock is very structured. Plus, it is a lovely area to visit, with its charming hills and forests, villages and beergardens. It is a region that lures you back for more visits. We will be based in the town of Neutras for this program.
This program is designed for beginners and no previous climbing experience is required, although this would also be a suitable program for those who have done some climbing at indoor rock-climbing gyms and would like to venture outdoors. Topics covered during this course include: roping and safety equipment, toprope climbing, lowering/rappelling, basic climbing techniques, and material science. I will teach you the basics so that you will have a solid foundation for all your future climbing endeavors.
Sign up now for this 3 day introductory climbing course to learn the basics of this incredible sport in a beautiful and peaceful setting!
I offer other programs for climbers with more experience: 4-day guided rock climbing trips in the Dolomites, 3-day sport climbing course in Arco, near Lake Garda, or Multi-pitch sport climbing 3-day trip around Hallerangerhaus, Karwendel.
We will gather in the inn at around 6pm. After dinner, I will introduce the program and we will check our equipment. We will finish the evening with a beer in the beergarden.
During these two days, we will practice the basics of rock climbing on nearby natural rocks.

Mountain Guide
IFMGA/IVBV Certified mountain, ski and canyoning guide, member of DAV and VDBS mountaineering and sport climbing teaching and training team. I’ve been part of the VDBS team for the formation and training of German mountain guides for 20 years.
I started climbing at the age of 17. Since 1987 I am certified mountain guide and a passion has become a profession. I live in Scharnitz / Tyrol and I am leader of the moutaineering school Alpenwelt Karwendel in Mittenwald.
Ice climbing in norway, skitouring in morocco, rock climbing in cuba or high mountains in the himalaya - I like it to explore new areas around the world. I led a DAV training expedition for talented young mountaineers in the Tian Shan mountain range with climbing Khan Tengri and did several expeditions to the karakorum mountains and the himalayas.
As a full-time mountain guide, I feel at home in the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains as well as in the mountains and climbing areas worldwide. I am happy to accompany you as a guide to your desired goal!

The guide Bernd was terrific - very knowledgable, experienced and patient with our group of beginners. Even when the weather turned to the worse, he kept finding ways to make it enjoyable, safe and interesting for all of us. We had a great time. Communication with him prior to the trip was also very clear and easy. Highly recommended!
