Description

Ever wanted to try out rock climbing? Well then come to the lovely Lake District for this 1-day course for beginners!

If you have never been rock climbing before or only done so in climbing gyms, then this is the perfect trip for you!

After meeting up at a predetermined location at 9:30 am, we will head to various spots, either in Langdale or Borrowdale, depending on the date.

Both places are in incredibly scenic parts of the Lake District and boast excellent climbing conditions, with fantastic walls and cliffs for us to try out.

We will be able to try out various different types of climbing throughout the day too, giving you a taste of different parts of the sport.

As we go, we’ll be sure to show you how to tie into ropes correctly as well as try out belaying and even abseiling a bit later in the day.

Rain or shine, we will find suitable cliffs to climb, so come prepared with clothing for any type of conditions.

Mountain Guide

Since discovering rock climbing and hill walking with the Scouts I have never been far away from the mountains. I have been lucky enough to turn what began as a year out into a full time career.

I have worked my way through the mountaineering qualifications from my Mountain Leader award through SPA, Winter Mountain Leader and MIA to getting my MIC (now Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor)in 2009. As an WMCI holder I am qualified to take you rock, snow or ice climbing anywhere in the UK. The WMCI is the highest UK specific qualification so you could not be in safer hands.

I have gained so much from the outdoor environment, particularly the Lake District. I now enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for the hills with others and passing on the knowledge to help them go and explore by themselves. I have been an active member of a Mountain Rescue Team (first Keswick and now Duddon and Furness) since 2005 and I once appeared in Coronation Street.
