During this 4-day adventure, you will climb the classic routes of the Bugaboo Mountains in Canada, considered some of the best routes on the continent!
Rising above the icy glaciers that cover the landscape, the breathtaking granite spires of the Bugaboo Mountains lure mountaineers from all over the world, especially those who are eager to test themselves on some of the best granite around. In fact, 4 routes in the Bugaboos are listed in top 50 classic climbs of North America. The legendary Northeast Ridge of Bugaboo Spire is just one of many world class routes that can be found in this small but impressive group of spires.
We will have an opportunity to explore the classic routes in the Bugaboos for 4 days during this trip. As I will guide you in private, the exact routes we select will be based on your interests, skills, and weather conditions. However, I’ve included a sample day-by-day itinerary below so that you can get a feel for the program. There is no shortage of amazing routes in the area, and you will have an incredibly rewarding and memorable mountaineering experience as I guide you up the best of them.
During this program, we will spend the night at either a campsite or a mountain hut. The program is suitable for participants with solid rock climbing experience and some previous mountaineering experience. If the weather conditions are not suitable for climbing in the Bugaboos, we will have the option to climb in the Rockies or in the Rogers Pass area.

Price details
Price per person for joining group. Includes: Guiding fee, accommodations in a campground or mountain hut, and meals. Does not include: Fuel.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
We will meet in Canmore, Alberta. Before heading out, we will do a gear check.
From there, we drive to the parking lot of the trailhead, and hike to Kain Hut or the campground.
If there’s still time, we can enjoy a quick scramble up Eastpost Spire.
Day 2 to 3: Climb Classic Spires
We tackle the classic spire routes of the Bugaboos! Options include: West Ridge of Pigeon, Kain Route, Snowpatch Route, etc.
Day 4: Departure
We may have time for another easy scramble in the morning before we drive back to the Rockies.

Canadian Rockies Mountain Guides is a small group of certified ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guides living in Canmore, AB who have over 18 years of experience guiding. We provide both climbing instruction and private guiding in rock climbing, alpine climbing and Via Feratta in the summer. We also provide guided backcountry skiing, recreational avalanche courses and guided waterfall ice climbing trips.
