Come to Portes du Soleil and enjoy skiing in Châtel, one of its amazing resorts, with Benjamin Soufflot, an IFMGA certified mountain guide.

Châtel, in the French Alps, offers a wide range of opportunities for skiing. On this trip you can explore this stunning area under expert guidance, focusing on freeride or ski touring.
The ski resort of Châtel is within one of the world's largest ski areas: Portes du Soleil (“Gates of the Sun” in French). It goes from Lake Geneva to the Mont Blanc region, on the border between France and Switzerland, connecting more than 10 resorts.
If you want to focus on freeride skiing, we would take short walks from the lifts to get to amazing off-piste runs. You will enjoy virgin snow with the safety of not being too far from the resort. The large and challenging Linga/Pre La Joux area is a freeride “must”!
If, instead, you are up for ski touring, you have to be prepared to climb and hike to reach the most remote powder runs. This area is really huge and has a lot of secret routes that I know very well!
Most of the slopes of Châtel are north facing, so they are snow-covered during the entire winter season. You will find some fun wooded areas, trails for skiers of all levels, and spectacular panoramic views.
Furthermore, from Châtel you can easily cross to the other resorts of Portes du Soleil: Avoriaz and Morzine in the French area, and Morgins, Les Crosets and Champéry on the Swiss side. If you want to explore this enormous tourist destination in its entirety, you should arrange for more days.
So, If you want to try some freeride and touring in one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, get in touch with me! I’m sure we will live a unique winter experience in Châtel!
And if you want to explore another of the ski resorts of Portes du Soleil, come and check out my Morzine ski touring and freeride day trip.

The Jura massif is an ideal place to learn and grow your experience in alpine techniques. I practice mountaineering, ski touring and ice climbing in the winter. I am also located very close to the Swiss and French alpine massifs.
First, I started as a ski rescuer. My passion for skiing and climbing helped me discover the classic routes in the mythical summits of the Alps. The first mountain courses I went on with friends as a guide - which I did with a lot of effort, doubts and perseverance - were much needed to build my experience. Still, they also gave me a lot of joy, and I was able to pursue them while laughing and creating beautiful moments shared.
My experience and terrain knowledge will allow you to move safely and enjoy your time, without a promise of the summit but of sharing a privileged and unique moment in the mountains.
Finally, I'm a fully certified IFMGA mountain guide.

A great day out exploring the off piste of the Portes de Soleil. Benjamin was friendly, professional and tailored the day to our needs perfectly. I would definitely recommend him as a mountain guide to help further your off piste and ski touring skills. He offers trips in the Portes de Soleil, Chamonix and Verbier. I’ll be looking him up for sure next year. Thanks Ben
Thanks to the site, we had a rapid proposal for a guide, who quickly tool contact with us. He chose a trip adapted to the competences of the family and remained very diligent during the full trip. Great experience !
Ben was a great Guide. I can fully recommend him. I had a great day. I can also recommend him for people who are little bit scared. He stays calm and show you how to move on and give you convidence. Thank you
An excellent guide, who planned an amazing route and combined technical instruction with local knowledge to provide a very enjoyable day of skiing that improved my off-piste skills and gave me confidence to try lines that I would never consider alone.
Experience extraordinaire. De belles sensations tout au long du parcours avec des paysages juste fantastiques. Journée conclue avec un apero avec les autres membres de l'équipe. Bonne organisation de Gauthier et de ses guides et belles rencontres avec les autres randonneurs.
Benjamin was our guide for a day out on Mer de Glacé. Great guide that provided useful insight in navigating the Glacier, proper techniques and even provided us an opportunity to rappel into a crevasse! Overall this was an absolutely amazing experience. I really liked how he would check in on us but was not at all overbearing. We felt like we had freedom to explore and poke around when he wasn’t giving us instruction. Just a heads up to anyone that doesn’t do heights, from the train we roped in together, climbed down a rock face approx 200m (about 650ft) on multiple steel ladders to the valley and then proceeded to hike up the glacier. I felt very secure and well supported by the group at all times. Bottom line of you are thinking about booking this experience and do not have the technical experience or equipment then I 100% recommend doing it. Will not disappoint
Benjamin est super sympa très attentionné techniquement très compétent c'était une super journée.
One week in a winter fairy tale. With a lot of fresh snow, freeriding all over the mountains, from top till the end of forests. Happy time to have such powder conditions like it was in our childhood...
Ben is a world class guide and my experience was so much fun. I would recommend him to any of my family or friends and will be back in the future and will request Ben.
Wow! I have dreamed about this vacation for 6 months and skiing the Valle Blanche was on the top of the wish list. What a killer day and a great guide
I am really, really happy with both Explore-share.com’s service and their recommendation of guide Benjamin Souflot. Benjamin was extremely personable, and more importantly knowledgeable. Benjamin recommended where to rent ski gear and the proper gear for the day. He had crampons for my boots, ropes and other safety gear needed. I showed up at the meeting spot early, and Benjamin was already there waiting. On the gondola ride up to Aiguille du Midi, he talked safety and what to expect. When we got up to the top, it was very windy and intimidating. As Benjamin prepared the gear for our descent, he talked safety, strategy and was reassuring that it would be a fun, safe adventure. As I look down the face of the Ridgeline, I became nervous and anxious. Benjamin was very reassuring that it was going to be OK, that I was safe with him and we would make it down. Sure enough, Benjamin literally “talked me off the ledge” and we proceeded down. Benjamin was focused & guided me the entire time. Once we started skiing, Benjamin gave great instructions as to where to ski, what to expect ahead, etc. He was very knowledgeable about the mountain. When we took breaks, Benjamin shared with me interesting facts about where we were, in the mountains France, Italy, Mount Blanc, the crevasses, various peaks, history of the glacier, etc. I had a great experience! I would definitely do this trip again with Benjamin. I would also recommend this trip to anyone else with Benjamin and your company, Explore-share.com. Thank you again! -John
This was an excellent trip and Benjamin is a fantastic, experienced and friendly guide. Would strongly recommend.
While we were not able to take this itinerary due to inclement weather, our guide Benjamin still managed to take us through very interesting terrain perfectly suited to our abilities, and even adjusted his schedule to find some sunny days. My son and I had a great time and learned a lot. These will be memories for a life time. Thank you!
Ben is a great guide and did a wonderful job with our group. He's patient and worked very well with us. I'd highly recommend him to other groups.
We had booked Ben for a single day and weather did not play nice: rain in the valley, snowfall and high winds on the summits. Hence, we were locked down to a single slope. Ben still made this an awesome day with lots of off-piste dives wherever possible, some avalanche training in between and good advice and powder exercises as he's simply an excellent skier. On top of that he is a great person and also available as guide in Chamonix and 4Vallee. Full recommendation!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
