Description

Châtel, in the French Alps, offers a wide range of opportunities for skiing. On this trip you can explore this stunning area under expert guidance, focusing on freeride or ski touring.

The ski resort of Châtel is within one of the world's largest ski areas: Portes du Soleil (“Gates of the Sun” in French). It goes from Lake Geneva to the Mont Blanc region, on the border between France and Switzerland, connecting more than 10 resorts.

If you want to focus on freeride skiing, we would take short walks from the lifts to get to amazing off-piste runs. You will enjoy virgin snow with the safety of not being too far from the resort. The large and challenging Linga/Pre La Joux area is a freeride “must”!

If, instead, you are up for ski touring, you have to be prepared to climb and hike to reach the most remote powder runs. This area is really huge and has a lot of secret routes that I know very well!

Most of the slopes of Châtel are north facing, so they are snow-covered during the entire winter season. You will find some fun wooded areas, trails for skiers of all levels, and spectacular panoramic views.

Furthermore, from Châtel you can easily cross to the other resorts of Portes du Soleil: Avoriaz and Morzine in the French area, and Morgins, Les Crosets and Champéry on the Swiss side. If you want to explore this enormous tourist destination in its entirety, you should arrange for more days.

So, If you want to try some freeride and touring in one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, get in touch with me! I’m sure we will live a unique winter experience in Châtel!

And if you want to explore another of the ski resorts of Portes du Soleil, come and check out my Morzine ski touring and freeride day trip.

Mountain Guide

The Jura massif is an ideal place to learn and grow your experience in alpine techniques. I practice mountaineering, ski touring and ice climbing in the winter. I am also located very close to the Swiss and French alpine massifs.

First, I started as a ski rescuer. My passion for skiing and climbing helped me discover the classic routes in the mythical summits of the Alps. The first mountain courses I went on with friends as a guide - which I did with a lot of effort, doubts and perseverance - were much needed to build my experience. Still, they also gave me a lot of joy, and I was able to pursue them while laughing and creating beautiful moments shared.

My experience and terrain knowledge will allow you to move safely and enjoy your time, without a promise of the summit but of sharing a privileged and unique moment in the mountains.

Finally, I'm a fully certified IFMGA mountain guide.
