Description

Discover the rugged secrets and iconic animals of Tanzania in 13 days. Climb on famous Kilimanjaro, and descend into the Serengeti, where beautiful and unique herds of animals roam and flourish.

Machame is a village sat on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, and thus a popular springboard onto the mountain. We walk through dense rainforest on winding trails; continue ascending a steep and rocky ridge, crossing a large river gorge to Shira 2 Camp.

Then we head to Lava Tower, a tall volcanic rock formation, before descending through the curious Senecio Forest with its captivating trees. Our next landmark is the Great Barranco Wall, crossing a collection of hills and valleys until we reach the Karanga Valley.

On day 6 we connect with the Mweka Trail and follow rocky sections, which also feature unbelievable views of the summits of Mawenzi and Kibo. Then we push on to the Uhuru Peak, which will be the most challenging point along our whole journey. Views are breathtaking, while you stand at the top of Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in all of Africa.

As we make our way down, the terrain in steep and rocky, while we head towards the Mweka Gate to exit the mountains.

Once accomplished, we’ll head over to Tarangire National Park, which is well known for its large collection of baobab trees and mammal population, especially elephants.

Then we head to the magnificent Ngorongoro crater, one of most densely populated African wildlife areas, and home to 30,000 animals including the black rhino, zebra, buffalo, hippo, lions, hyenas, cheetahs and many more.

We’ll visit Lake Magadi, one of the main features of the crater, before proceeding to the Serengeti, perhaps the most famous protected areas on Earth, that is bursting with wildlife and natural wonder.
