Follow an expert guide to the summit of the Tequila Volcano.
Enjoy unique views of agave fields in Mexico.
Prepare for bigger ascents or simply enjoy a fantastic hike to the top.
Reach the summit of one of the Tequila Volcano, one of the most iconic peaks in Jalisco, Mexico. Follow one of our experienced guides on this day hike.
This extinct stratovolcano is very close to the town of Tequila, on the mexican state of Jalisco. It is the 4th highest one in the state, standing at 2,940 meters. And it forms part of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, which covers most of the country.
The enchanting town of tequila lies 62 kilometers west of Guadalajara, the second biggest city in the country. So reaching this fantastic place is not complicated. It makes for an amazing journey, passing by other equally charming towns like Acajete.
Then, to stand at the top of Tequila, doesn’t require any technical abilities or previous mountaineering experience. As it is a relatively easy hike, that can be completed in one day, from Tequila or Guadalajara, depending on our itinerary.
The name of this beautiful volcano comes from the native words tequillanor tecuila, which translates to place where they cut. This is a reference to the obsidian mined in the area, since the pre hispanic era.
Once we reach the summit, we’ll get incomparable views of the area, including the agave fields, the plant from which the tequila is made from. Furthermore, there are many paths we can follow, with different difficulty levels. But all of them offer equally dazzling sceneries.
Since this is a private trip, you’ll get to craft your itinerary based on your experiences and requests. So don’t miss out on the fun and send us a request today.
What People are Saying about Mexico Adventure Guides-
Daniel and his partner Alex did a great job guiding us, and helping with all the logistics, especially transportation to and from the climb. Alex was a real pleasure to talk with, learn from, and show us the mountain. Thank you, for a great experience!
Daniel was kind enough to pick me up promptly at the airport when I arrived. we drove straight to amecameca and bought a few supplies, we then drove to Popo park and set up camp. Daniel gave a class on crampons, walking sticks and the ice pick and then it was time to sleep and prepare for the early morning hike start. we set off around 0330 and reached the recluso at about 15,500 feet. it was an amazing experience with wonderful views. Thank you Daniel, Alejandro and Yasmin!
