Description
The Peñón de Guatapé in the Antioquia region is a very interesting spot with excellent climbing routes on granite rock. It is a day trip from the city of Medellín. The area has different sections with climbing routes of all levels.
The Piedra del Peñol or Peñón de Guatapé offers something for everyone. It is a great place for beginners or expert climbers alike. If you have previous climbing experience, you can climb on a multi-pitch route to the summit (220 meters).
The warm weather and the exceptional landscape of the Guatupé region, including a water reservoir, make it a very nice place for a climbing adventure and a fun day.
We will meet at 9:30 and it is just a 20-minute walk on an easy path from the road until we reach the climbing area. After we get there, you can climb one route in each sector of the crag. At midday we will stop and have a box lunch, and we will finish at about 05:00 pm.

Hi, my name is Luis. I am an engineer who has made the mountains my way of life. I live in Machetá, a small village 80 km north of Bogotá, where is one of the best climbing spots in the country. I have been a travel guide throughout Colombia since 2007 and in 2013 I was certified by the Association of Mountain Guides and Climbers in Colombia (ACGME) as a Rock Climbing Instructor.
I can take you to the some of the many climbing sites in the country, mainly in Suesca, Machetá and Sutatausa, very close to Bogotá. Also, we can go on trekkings and outings and enjoy walks through Colombia’s stunning nature.
In addition to providing for maximum safety possible during the climbs, I am also a writer for mountain magazines and a I love stories, so I always enjoy a good conversation during a day of climbing. Contact me and we will plan your next climbing or hiking adventure in Colombia!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
