Experience the beauty of the Alps in summer with this family day hike and picnic on the Grand St. Bernard Pass, starting from La Rosière, France. I will take you to discover a place with a stunning alpine scenery, lakes and streams, and we might even see some marmots on our way!
This ancient mountain pass is a real link between two countries, Switzerland and Italy, two valleys, two mountain communities. It is one of the most ancient passes in the Western Alps, with evidence of use as far back as the Bronze Age! It is situated between Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa.
You will discover a mythical place, charged with a history of more than 4000 years, where the contemporary man can feel, taste, touch, contemplate, explore and marvel at the amazing landscapes and natural beauty of this place.
Right at the top of the mountain pass is the Grand St. Bernard Hospice, founded by St. Bernard in 1049. The St. Bernand breed of dogs was originally bred for rescue at the hospice.
We will depart at 9:45 from the ski shop in La Rosière. With the view of Mont Blanc accompanying us, we will hike along easy trails and paths, suitable for everyone, discovering the unique scenery of this region. We then head to Lake Longet and begin a short climb to the Traversette Pass.
At around 13h, we are all around a barbecue to enjoy a well deserved grill.
In the afternoon, we walk on the ridges and discover a 360 ° panorama.
Finally we descend on the Rosière by the Roche Noir chairlift.
If you want to enjoy a great day hike with your family and friends, just book your place and let’s hike together to the Grand St. Bernard Pass. Come discover a unique place in the Alps!

My girlfriend and I spent a half day learning the basics for rock climbing outdoors, near Dinant, with our guide Ann-Laure. Ann-Laure was a great teacher and tailored the experience to suit our skill level perfectly. The atmosphere with Ann-Laure was calm, fun and professional. Would definitely recommend, cheers
