Gran Paradiso (4061 m) is particularly well suited for ski touring. It is a mountain located in the Graian Alps, more precisely between Aosta Valley and Piedmont regions in Italy. In fact, its ascent is doable by many skiers that already have ski touring experience. We will leave either from the Victor Emmanuel or the Chabod mountain huts. In this way, if one of the participants doesn’t have the level for a traverse ascent, the others are not penalized.

Indeed, it’s a grandiose trip deep in the Italian altitude atmosphere. The welcome, the comfort and the delicious food!

Enjoy the following highlights of this trip:
    – Ascent of a summit over 4000 m, with magnificent views of the Alps
    – Several possible attempts during the stay depending on the weather
    – The charm and food of an Italian mountain hut
    – Getting the picnics at the refuge
    – Multiple meeting points depending on where you are coming from + included transfers
    – Easy access with TGV

You can’t miss ascending this summit ski touring!

I was disappointed. I was slower than the rest of the group reaching Tete Rousse, and the guide discouraged me from going to Gouter. I had a slight ankle sprain the day before which slowed my ascent. I recovered 95% the day after. My complaint: when I decided to go for a second guided attempt, at a slower pace, I received no help in securing a guide, or a reservation at Gouter. The online reservation showed fully booked both for Rousse and Gouter. But I know that there were lots of empty bunks at Rousse, and I suspect the same at Gouter. I received sympathy, but only as a formality. Initially I had sought a single dedicated guide, but I was encouraged to join a group. I did not get a choice.I should have known better, I knew my pace would be a bit slower, but I counted on your support and understanding. I got neither. I was on my own with no help.
