Mountain Guide
Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Patrick & Walter (German speaking), Paolo, Matteo and Davide.
If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.
I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.
Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.
My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).
Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

Renato is a superb guide who adapts quickly to individual’s capabilities. We did several tours in the areas around Madonna de Campiglio. He is great at finding good snow, on safe terrain. He is also fun to ski with and has a great sense of humour- in English and several other languages, as well as Italian. Renato is one of the top guides in Europe. We recommend him with enthusiasm!

Conditions were difficult and made the choice of where to go limited. The last expedition was too steep for us personally but choice of area was reduced by snow conditions. Paulo was patient and helpful and we LOVED the Dolomites

Renato was a superb guide who we were lucky to have. I have given 4 * for the overall tour as I would have wanted a local guide in an ideal world. Explore share provided a good service but ideally might have helped a little more at the early stages of planning where I was struggling to get information about the tour details.

Renato went above and beyond in all aspects of this trip to the dolomites. this was my first ever ski-tour. through our correspondence renato guided me to a hotel and town i could stay at leading up to the ski-tour in order to hit some resort skiing between christmas and new year. he met me in the indoor-bouldering room in campitello, several days before the tour, so i had a chance to meet the person in whose hands i‘d be putting my life for three days! several locals approached me in the days after, and would tell me how renato had taught them how to climb and summit mountains. turns out renato is quite the local legend and that certainly helped me know my trust was in the in right place. renato helped me coordinate the refuge, and even paid a deposit for me to secure the spots. he lent me a lot of his own equipment for the tour, and showed me where i could rent a pair of ski-touring skis for a single day solo-trial up val duron a few days before we started. he not only picked me up and drove me to the refuge but on the last day offered to drive me all the way to bolzano so could catch my train home in the most convenient manner possible. we summited two mountains, sasso delle dieci and col bechei si sopra, that’s no.2 and no.3 in my life. renato was patient, tremenously knowledgable, good humoured and encouraging, a fascinating storyteller, ever so kind and really looked after me. without me even asking him to, renato took some of the best photographs anyone’s ever taken of my in my life and shared them with me each day so i had a live diary on my strava account! i must say that without a doubt this has been the best holiday ever in my life - so much beauty, such interesting challenges and new accomplishments. i surely am the happiest debutant ski-tourer! renato is the most exemplary guide. i could not recommend him highly enough. thank you explore-share!
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
