Description

The Grossvenediger (3674 m) is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Austrian Alps. And this 2-day ski touring program is one of the absolute classics in the Hohe Tauern range. I invite you to join me and discover this amazing mountain!

Also, the Grossvenediger is the most important peak of the Venediger Mountain Group. It lies inside the Hohe Tauern National Park, just in the middle between East Tyrol and Salzburg. Most important, we will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Please note that you need to have previous ski touring and crampons use experience. Besides, good tolerance to heights!

On the first day, we will meet at Hopffeldboden Parking, in the Obersulzbachtal. Then, a shuttle will transfer us to the cable car towards the Kürsinger Hut. We will ascend over the Keesboden, the summer hiking trail and past the former Turkish tent. We will then continue along the winter path to Kürsinger Hütte. Our walking time depends on the conditions. It will be about 2 to 3 hours.

On the second day, we will ascend to the summit of the Grossvenediger! We will go first towards Obersulzbachkees and then further into the Venediger Scharte. Then we will find flat terrain to the top. It will take us from 4 to 6 hours. After enjoying a spectacular view from the summit, we will descend along the ascent route.

So contact me if you want to join me in this amazing 2-day ski touring experience! I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the program. We will spend a fantastic time out in the Grossvenediger!

You can also check my Grossglockner 2-day ski touring ascent! It's also an amazing tour!

About the guide

The mountains have always been a great part of my life. I was a youth leader of the Alpine Association of Zell am See, Bergrettungsmann, and completed the training as a ski and snowboard instructor. I studied meteorology because it can be very useful in mountaineering. My first trips took me to the Eastern Alps, around Piz Bernina and Biancogray. I also had the chance many times the amazing Mont Blanc range and the peaks around Chamonix. Finally, I got to practice in the high mountains of Bolivia and Chile.
I have really found my calling as a mountain guide. I am right where I always wanted to be. The smile on my clients' faces at the summit or after an intense ski day is so rewarding!
I am part of a team of local guides (Bergführer Zell am See Kaprun), all friends of mine, guys with whom I share the passion for the mountains. They are Markus B, Markus H and Gerald, all IFMGA certified guides. Our philosophy is "to know how to do something well is to enjoy it". Therefore, we always keep learning to give you the best experience.

Excellent experience with Andreas who is an outstanding guide. Rain and icy conditions made it quite challenging, but Andreas still made it into a very enjoyable climb for my friend and colleague Johan, who, while very fit and an avid hiker, tried mountaineering for the first time.

We didn't climb Grosser Wiesbachhorn, because Andreas suggested a more interesting climb on the Granatspitze. Granatspitze was a great climb, although we didn't really get to see much of the scenery because of rain and fog. But the guiding went perfect, Andreas is a friendly and calm guide. I would definitely reccommend him.

We had quick and clear communication with Andi even before the trip started. In consultation we forward the trip a week as the weather was nice, great suggestion of Andi. He has a lot of knowledge and experience, we felt safe the entire climb and hike. We slept at Stüdlhütte, which did not disappoint. Dinner and breakfast were extensive and so tasty. Would absolute recommend the trip and Andi as a guide to anyone!

The guide was super friendly and knows the mountain inside out. He made me feel secure at the sections that were a bit more exposed. I also appreciated that he took a couple of pictures of me as I was travelling on my own.

Firstly, this is the second occasion that we have booked a trip through Explore-Share and both times the process has been brilliant from start to finish. They are helpful, informative and efficient and always easy to contact. Secondly, this is the first time we have used Andreas as a guide and we really couldn't have asked for more. He assisted us in the preparation and logistics of the trip and helped us to get to the starting point, thus avoiding the need for a hire car. The guiding process was fantastic, professional throughout but also friendly and relaxed making it the perfect balance; everyone in our group loved the trip. Brilliant value for money, would not hesitate to book him again. Good stuff!

Andreas has been a wonderful guide for our excursion (to the Persailhorn summit on a via ferrata still partially covered with snow). He has been professional as well as remarkably careful with our preferences. During the organization, he understood perfectly our wishes on types of routes, environment and conditions; and shaped options for the itinerary by taking all preferences into. During the excursion, he took care greatly of all technical aspects, guaranteed safe situations and made each different person feeling confrontable. Last but not least, he has been an amazingly good company during the entire excursion; sharing conversations with him has been very informative and pleasant for all of us.

The guide was really nice, he really knew his stuff, he was a good laugh as well. Always chilled out. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the summit however, I plan to come back and do it again. And actually finish it! But it definitely gave me a huge insight on what I want to do to travel, and that is to climb mountains for charity. So thank you guys so much for helping me out. It was truly an incredible experience!

It was a great human and sport experience. This region is so beautiful. Andreas is a kind, honest person and a great guide. It was a pleasure to share this climb with him. He was permanently avalaible before and during the ascent and gave me some good advice. The ascent (we climbed by the studlgrat) was challenging and nice. That one requires a good physical fitness and some rock-climbing skills. I was pleased and proud when we reached the top.

Andreas is a very friendly and competent guide. It was reassuring to be climbing with a meteorologist during unstable weather. All three of us climbing felt very safe to have Andreas leading us up and down. I highly recommend this trip and hope to see Andi again soon!

We had a fantastic time with Andreas. We met at the Stüdlhütte, had time during dinner to discuss our ascent and he answered all our questions to our satisfaction. He even advanced us money for food and the hut as we stupidly enough did not bring enough. The hike was fantastic and not doable for us without him. Thanks again Andi for such a great experience. We definitely would book it again, and with no other guide than you! :)
