Highlights

  • Climb a south-facing crag with Mt. Fuji towering directly ahead.
  • Marvel at wide, snow-capped Fuji views
  • Tackle beginner-friendly, well-protected routes.

Description

Climb a sun-bathed, south-facing rock face with Mt. Fuji rising directly ahead — a rare, stunning vantage point.

Located near Mt. Mitsutoge and Lake Kawaguchi (convenient to Fujiyoshida and Kōfu), this crag has a variety of easy routes that make it perfect for beginner climbers.

In winter the face stays warm and enjoys an exceptionally high number of sunny days, so weather cancellations are uncommon — meaning more time on the rock and more time soaking in Fuji’s beauty.

We’ll meet you by car at Isawa Onsen Station, Kawaguchiko Station, or a nearby hotel at around 8:00 AM, drive to the trailhead, and hike for about an hour to reach the rock face. Expect 4–5 hours of guided climbing on well-protected routes — if the group moves smoothly you can climb roughly 7–8 pitches — followed by a roughly 40-minute descent and a return drive to the station or hotel of your choice.

If you’re staying near Lake Kawaguchi you’ll have a relaxed morning before the climb and can be dropped off there or at Isawa Onsen afterward for an easy trip back to Tokyo.

Want to stand with Mt. Fuji at your feet and make memories on the rock? Join us and experience it for yourself!

Kenji was delightful and inspired confidence. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side, and the rock was very wet. On a dry day this would be a simply beautiful climb. However he more than made up for it by taking us on a longer hike, and when the sun finally came out went out of his way to drive us to the best viewpoints to see Fuji. He also shared his delicious ginger tea with us when we got cold and wet! I’d certainly recommend him and this climb, but on a dry day. 5
