Follow us on a wonderful hiking and mountain bike adventure in this beautiful location.
We’ll begin with a 5-kilometer bike ride following the dazzling Cuale River. We’ll pass the towns of Paso Ancho, Paso del Guayabo, and Los Almacenes. From there, we continue our trip hiking along the river and crossing it a couple of times to reach the start of “La Herradura“. The hike up offers breathtaking views of the Bay of Banderas along the Sierra Madre. Then, we’ll continue to El Salto, one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in the region, where we’ll be able to jump, swim and enjoy the river. We’ll go back following the same route, unless you wish to explore more things.
This adventure is for intermediate hikers and beginner cyclers in good physical shape. The whole trip lasts approximately 6 hours and we’ll be covering 20 kilometers (10 biking and 10 hiking) on the round-trip.

Daniel was kind enough to pick me up promptly at the airport when I arrived. we drove straight to amecameca and bought a few supplies, we then drove to Popo park and set up camp. Daniel gave a class on crampons, walking sticks and the ice pick and then it was time to sleep and prepare for the early morning hike start. we set off around 0330 and reached the recluso at about 15,500 feet. it was an amazing experience with wonderful views.
