Description

Only 7 kilometers from Canela, as well as the center of Gramado, in the Serra Gaucha, Rio Grande do Sul, lies a magnificent place you cannot miss: the Caracol State Park.

Parque do Caracol as it is known in portuguese, is the second most visited place in the south of Brazil. With many marvelous things to see and explore in this enormous country, to have such a huge reputation talks about its incomparable beauty.

Reaching the park is easy. And the place has been well preserved. Therefore, visitors can enjoy its endless and amazing hiking trails. Furthermore, we’ll encounter many recreational spots, along with restaurants, snack bars and shops, as well as an ambiental history center and an ecological center. The latter, provides a breathtaking 360 degree view of the area, as it stands at 27 meters, towering over this wonderful place.

But it is the Caracol Falls undoubtedly one of the most amazing features of this mesmerizing park. And it is one of the most famous landmarks of  Rio Grande do Sul. The Caracol Falls is a dazzling 131 meters cascade, within an enchanting valley.

There are different ways to reach this impressive spot. We could take the famous “Shaky Leg’s Ladder” which has 730 steps. If you choose this option, be prepared to challenge yourself. However, the views you’ll get during this ascent, will make it completely worth it. Or, we could take a cable car, which has an extra cost.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
