Description

I invite you to a 1-day ice climbing course in the frozen waterfalls of Switzerland. Ice climbing is a very special activity, quite sporty in nature and related to rock climbing.

Are you an absolute beginner in this discipline, looking to get a taste of this unique sport? Are you already in love with ice climbing? In any case, we can go and explore together the crazy frozen walls!

In Switzerland we can find routes on frozen waterfalls with all degrees of difficulty. Therefore, do not hesitate to ask me for a specific program according to your level or the average level of your group.

As you might already know, each winter the water freezes in a unique way, creating ephemeral and ever-changing playgrounds. I will decide the exact location shortly before the trip, trying to keep it within the area of Engelberg, in the Obwalden Canton.

Ice climbing is a naturally extreme sport. Although we can do the program under all weathers, the conditions might force me to modify or cancel it. After all, we depend on the ice!

Equipment: warm and waterproof clothing, 2 pairs of gloves (1x fist, 1x finger), mountaineering boots or ski touring boots, climbing harness, helmet, hot tea.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
