Type of Trip
I invite you to join me in an exciting ski touring day in the impressive Kitzsteinhorn (3203 m)! This glaciated mountain is located in the High Tauern range of the Central Eastern Alps in Austria. It is Salzburg’s only glacier ski resort. And, most important, it is a paradise for freeride skiers!
Besides, there will be no ascent for us, just a 2000 hm descent! But the Kitzsteinhorn certainly has much more to offer than freeride runs. Also, we will experience spectacular variations that will lead us down to the Muhlbach Valley! And we will ski through perfect sloping slopes. Then, past the Schaunberg Alm, we will follow the forest road to Niedernsill.
Pleas, be aware that you need experience in skiing off the slopes in order to join this tour.
We will meet at the valley station of the Kaprun glacier railways. After a couple of warming up runs, we will head towards Mühlbachtal. Depending on the snow conditions, we will choose one of the three variants from Kitzsteinhorn into the Mühlbach Valley.
So, what are you waiting for? Contact me if you want to discover the other side of the Kitzsteinhorn! I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the program,
I also offer a 1-day ski touring tour to the Stubacher Sonnblick summit. Check it out!

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?
If you decide to cancel, you’ll get a 100% refund (minus fees) if the cancellation is notified up to 60 days before the start of the tour, a 75% refund (minus fees) if you cancel between 59 and 30 days before the start of the tour, and a 50% refund if you cancel between 29 and 21 days before the start of the tour. If you cancel less than 21 days before the first day of the tour, you won’t receive a refund. Take into account, however, that if accommodation, flights or transfers were included in the trip you booked, then a different policy may apply as the guide will be bound by the provider’s cancellation policy.
What happens if the guide cancels the trip because of bad weather/unsuitable conditions?
If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, he or she will: a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better, or b) propose to postpone the activity until a later date, or c) cancel. If you refuse option a), our cancellation policy will apply. Please note, however, that the call to cancel a trip due to bad weather can only be made by the guide (not the client).
What happens if the guide doesn’t show up or cancels for personal reasons?
If the guide cancels for reason of injury or other, you will get a 100% refund on your trip.
Personal expenses are not included in the Price
The price also includes the necessary emergency equipment (shovel, probe and LVS device)
About the Guide
The mountains have always been a great part of my life. I was a youth leader of the Alpine Association of Zell am See, Bergrettungsmann, and completed the training as a ski and snowboard instructor. I studied meteorology because it can be very useful in mountaineering. My first trips took me to the Eastern Alps, around Piz Bernina and Biancogray. I also had the chance many times the amazing Mont Blanc range and the peaks around Chamonix. Finally, I got to practice in the high mountains of Bolivia and Chile.
I have really found my calling as a mountain guide. I am right where I always wanted to be. The smile on my clients' faces at the summit or after an intense ski day is so rewarding!
I am part of a team of local guides (Bergführer Zell am See Kaprun), all friends of mine, guys with whom I share the passion for the mountains. They are Markus B, Markus H and Gerald, all IFMGA certified guides. Our philosophy is "to know how to do something well is to enjoy it". Therefore, we always keep learning to give you the best experience.
