Description
Known as one of the sportiest via ferratas in Haute-Savoie, the via de Thônes is rated very difficult and offers several small, fairly steep passages on ladders. It is 255 m high and is suitable for people who are already experienced and do not have vertigo.
This via is located at the entrance of Thônes, an emblematic city of the Aravis massif and cradle of Reblochon. High above the town of Thônes in Haute Savoie, the via ferrata de la Roche à l'Agathe offers gorgeous rural views on the Tournette massif. This thrilling route that goes up the cliff of the Roche des Calvaires is perfect for fit adventurers that want a taste of the French Alps paired with a little adrenaline.
The program begins and ends at the via ferrata parking lot in the Thônes center, you will need to get there on your own. Once we meet, we will walk for 5-10 minutes to the starting point, 1 hour and 30 minutes in the via and 45 minutes for the return (steep descent). Keep in mind that you will need a good fitness level to join.
We advise to climb it in the morning because in the afternoon the cliff is exposed to strong sunlight.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
