Description

Would you like to try a different and exciting winter sport? Then come to Campo Imperatore, Italy, and learn the basics of snowkiting under expert guidance!

Campo Imperatore is an alpine meadow located in the Gran Sasso massif, in the Italian region of Abruzzo. Known as the “Little Tibet”, it lies next to the Apennines’ highest peak, Corno Grande, and Europe’s southernmost glacier, the Calderone.

The goal of my 1-day course is to teach you basic snowkiting skills. Campo Imperatore, with an area of 80km², no trees, and surrounded by huge peaks, is a perfect spot to try this amazing sport.

During the activity, that includes an hour of theory and at least three hours of practice, you will learn the following techniques: wind and kite notions, equipment usage, safety skills, takeoff and landing, and flight exercises.

We will use the most modern and safe gear, which adapts to different weather conditions. To participate, you need to know how to ski or snowboard, but not necessarily at an expert level.

So, are you up for a stunning winter day course in Campo Imperatore? Then contact me! Let’s explore a unique alpine scenery and enjoy the thrill of snowkiting!

I also offer an alpine rock climbing course in this same area. Check it out here.

Mountain Guide

I'm a certified Mountain guide (IFMGA) and physician of L'Aquila. My curiosity and enthusiasm took me to the mountains of the world: North America, Norway, Turkey, Morocco, Iran, Kirghistan, Alaska,Gerogia,Canada guiding on ski touring trips and for climbing. Being fascinated by the high mountains in summer I divide my time guiding among the 4000m of the Alps, being based at Chamonix and Briancon. In winter I ski with my clients on the mountains of the Apennine – Gran Sasso, escaping sometimes for travelling towards a new climb or a new place to ski.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
