Enjoy 1 day of full excitement on this canyoning and piragua experience in the Buitrago de Lozoya village, near Madrid.
This exhilarating program combines two sportive activities: canyoning and piragua. The first one will lead us across the area between Somosierra and the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. Then, we’ll visit the Buitrago de Lozoya village and explore it while riding a boat on the Lozoya River.
First of all, we’ll meet in the town of Somosierra and I’ll provide you with all the necessary equipment for the activity. To start, we’ll cross a canyon and enjoy rappelling down. This route covers a distance of 2 kilometers and will takes us around 30 minutes to explore. Between the second and third rappels, we’ll find the most thrilling section of the canyon: a 9-meter slide. I’ll assist you at all times and be there to help you with everything that you need.
If you would like to go for the larger descent of 35 meters, keep in mind that the number of participants should be small. This rappel is challenging and requires prior canyoning experience.
In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy canoeing around the walled enclosure of Buitrago de Lozoya. This beautiful fortress is of Muslim origin and dates from the 9th century. The views from the boat will be outstanding! Also, we’ll take an easy route across a forest to the ruins of Palacio del Bosque.
And you can enjoy all this less than an hour away from Madrid! Would you miss it? Get in touch with me by sending the request to book your trip. We’ll start making all the arrangements to make it happen.

Pedro was so knowledgeable about the area, and graciously answered all our questions, even those unrelated to the hike. He was very kind in picking us up from Madrid for a small fee. He also took a bunch of photos of my husband and I during the trek, which I really appreciated since those are our only pictures together from our trip to Spain. I'd definitely recommend Pedro to anyone traveling to Madrid and interested in experiencing nature outside the city.
