Description
Join this cycling tour and delve into the tropical Tijuca rainforest, considered to be the world’s largest urban forest, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
And with a guide who knows the area very well, navigating the endless paths and hills will be made accessible.
We’ll get up close and intimate with the flora and fauna that spread across the vast forest, and learn something about the unique and curious urban ecosystem.
Along our ride we’ll gaze out across the great city of Rio and capture the stunning scenery available. You’ll have the opportunity to witness the Christ the Redeemer statue and greet the local toucans, monkeys and other wild animals that are home to the national forest.
As a man-made reclamation of land, which was formerly used to grow sugar and coffee, it is packed full of flora and fauna, and since 1961 has been a fully-protected national area.
We’ll pedal on the oldest route in the forest, which was used by Emperor Pedro II in the 19th century. It is a key spot to understanding the history of Brazil.
Through the thick, lush forest we’ll cycle for approximately 5 hours, among the trees and by waterfalls, as well as capturing incredible panoramic views of Rio.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
