Description

Let’s enjoy together the awesome ski touring circuit in the Ötztal valley!

I have the big pleasure to invite you to live 5 unforgettable days skiing around the most amazing points of the Ötztal valley. It is an alpine valley of Tyrol which separates the Stubai Alps from the Ötztal Alps.

As that valley is formed by the Alps’ main chain, it has several glaciers and amazing peaks like the Similaun or the Weißkugel. All its surrounding mountains are also very popular among skiers and mountaineers from all around the world.

This ski tour takes places during the month of March. I can lead a group of maximum 5 guests. Generally, 5 days are enough to ski around the main spots of the Ötztal valley. However, I can add some extra days in case you wish that.

All the members of the group need to be comfortable on all kind of backcountry terrains. Furthermore, it’s mandatory to have a good fitness level to ascend for about 8 hours per day.

At the end of this page you can find more details about the day-by-day itinerary of the program.

If you want to start with the reservation process, please fill the form and contact me. I will be happy to lead this fantastic ski touring expedition through the Ötztal valley!

Itinerary

Day 1: Vent - Martin Busch Hut

Our meeting point will be in Vent. There we will check and distribute all the equipment before heading off up to the Martin Busch Hut (2501m). Upon arrival, we will check into the accommodation before refreshing some avalanche transceiver searching skills. In the evening, we will have a talk about the plan for the next days.

Day 2: Similaun Summit

We will start our first summit attempt towards the Similaun (3606m). The gentle glacier lead us up nicely to the steeper slopes of the summit. Then, we will move in direction to the Similaun Hut, where we will spend our second night in the mountains.

Day 3: Finail Spitze

Today we will go to the finding place of Ötzi, the Ice Man. He was found not far from the hut across the Italian border.

On the way, we can decide if we also make a summit or not. A possible option is the Finail Spitze (3514m). The glacier underneath the summit leads down towards the Hochjoch Hospiz, which we will reach after a short climb.

Day 4: Fluchtkogel - Vernagt hut

If conditions allow, we will reach the summit of the Fluchtkogel (3497m). This can be done by various ascent routes, either a steep slope or a wide open glacier. We will make use of the harnesses and ropes to ascend the steepest and most exposed passages. After the summit attack, we will have a never ending glacier descent down to the Vernagt hut (2755m).

Day 5: Wildspitze

On the final day we will conquer the second highest peak in Austria, the Wildspitze (3768m). Via the Brochkogel, the route leads to the higher plateaus of the glacier until we get a first glance of the summit. In the final meters we leave our skis behind and scramble up the easy ridge. The descent to Vent is long and variable with some abseiling included!

Once back in Vent, the program ends with a well-deserved Austrian coffee and cake!

We had a great time with Andreas. He is very professional and experienced guide. He provided good safety session before our trip and provided personal safety equipment for a very reasonable price. His choice of routes were correctly matched to our abilities to challenge us and provide quite an exciting time. We would never be able to experience this kind of skiing without a guide and Andi was a great choice. I would highly recommend him to any clients from a beginners to a professionals. Also I enjoyed using your site for booking guide services. You were fast and informative. Transaction was simple, transparent and rate was very competetive. Thank you
