Description

Rogers Pass is a high-mountain pass within Glacier National Park, in British Columbia. Nestled in the Selkirk Mountains, it’s the birthplace to North American mountaineering and home to some of the best alpine rock climbing in Canada. Are you up for the challenge?

I propose to take you on a multi-day trip to Rogers Pass (minimum is 2 days and can be up to 4 days). We’ll be exploring amazing routes in high-quality quartzite. Routes are graded between II and V in the UIAA grading system.

Some of the most popular routes lie in these peaks: mount Roger, Uto peak, mount Macdonald, mount Bonney and the Swiss Peaks, among others.

It’s worth mentioning most routes entail a long and demanding approach, that’s why 2 days is the minimum time required for this trip. On a 3-day trip, for example, we’d be able to climb 2 different routes.

We’ll choose the best routes for you according to your level, previous experience and personal goals. The itinerary will also depend on the weather, which is quite unpredictable in this area. Please keep in mind that the hardest technical routes only admit one person per guide, while for other routes guide ratio is 2:1.

In order to organize this, we’ll have a pre-meeting the day before of the trip. For that, we can meet either in Golden or Revelstoke.

As for the average temperatures, you should expect temperatures between 10C to 28C during day. At night, temperatures can drop below zero.

For this trip, it’s recommended to have some previous rock climbing (trad climbing) and mountaineering experience. Being in excellent physical conditions is also a must.
