If there is one constant in mountaineering, it is definitely ropes. Absolutely essential when it comes to scaling mountains, both big and small, learning proper rope work is a crucial skill. And, during this 2-day course, I will teach you many aspects of proper rope work in the Andes of Chile, near Santiago.
This course will consist of 2 theoretical modules and 2 days in the field, where you can put what you’ve learned into practice.
Throughout the course you will learn a number of important techniques that will help you in both ascending and descending.
Some examples of what will be covered during the course includes the following.
Selection and preparation of meetings in natural environments, including trees, rocks, etc.
Types of rope and its different uses
Technical and security team
How to care for and use equipment, including carabiners, braking devices and more
Applied knots
Choice of anchoring
Risk management
Rappel phases
Assurance maneuvers with braking devices in pulley climbing (top rope)
Participants on this course should be in good physical condition.
