Sandstone climbing in the Elbe Valley

The Elbe Valley has become the most popular rock climbing area in the Czech Republic. And the spot certainly deserves it!

The beautiful Elbe Valley offers not only first-rate sandstone climbing but also the most stunning views. Here, the Elbe river rules with a firm hand and, on both margins, incredible rock formations offer climbers thousands of lines on which to test and challenge themselves.

Sandstone climbing is a unique activity. Full of corners, chimneys and other technically demanding features, it provides a great challenge to even the most experienced climbers. I can guarantee you’ll love it!

During this course, you will learn the basics of sandstone climbing: securing the lead, setting loops, climbing chimneys, abseiling and friction climbing. We will be doing everything according to the very particular rules of sandstone climbing.

At the end of the day, we’ll head down to the local pub, where locals and visitors alike will share their stories of courage and strong will while climbing one of the Elbe Valley lines.
