The Himalayan valley of Gulmarg in Kashmir during the month of February is the dream ski trip for every powder skiing enthusiast. Come along this 6-day program, for a ski touring week you will never forget.
Gulmarg is located at an altitude of 2,690 m (8,825 ft). It is the highest and best equipped ski resort of continental Asia, with a number of well maintained ski lifts and a cable car taking you up to 3,950m (12,959 ft). Surrounding Gulmarg, there is a string of summits of over 8000 m that tower above the horizon.
Thanks to its impressive snowfall during the winter season, Gulmarg’s powder is not only abundant but also exquisitely light and fluffy.
This small tourist resort used to be the summer retreat of choice of the British expats and Indian ruling families. Today, it continues to be very popular for its cool temperatures during the dry season. But most recently, Gulmarg has also developed as a ski resort, on the plateau area on Mt Apharwat which peaks of up to 4,200m (13,770 ft).
The off-piste and ski touring possibilities are vast and varied: wide slopes, ridges, couloirs, forests, runs of impressive length, and elevation differentials of over 1,000 m on slopes, going from average to steep.
This is why Gulmarg is a dream destination for powder hounds! All of this, with the added exotic charm of the remote Himalayan valleys.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
