Snowshoeing from Le Manon in the Haut-Jura, France (4 days)

The Haut Jura is an ideal setting for a snowshoeing adventure. I invite you to spend 4 fun days together exploring this serene and beautiful region. We will start at the high valleys and make our way up to the Jura mounts.

Running along the French – Swiss border, the Haut Jura is a mountainous region with very well preserved nature. We will discover this nature during a varied itinerary, enjoying the unique landscapes of the Haut Jura.

Throughout the trip we will experience the striking contrast as we progress. We will start with the ambiance of the high valleys, with soft reliefs and a calm overall feeling. But as we move forward we will feel the difference with the Jura mounts, more aerial and panoramic. If the weather allows, we will enjoy the 360° panorama  which includes the Alps or the last plateaus of the Jura mountains. And we will also get to admire the Leman lake!

This program is ideal for people with an intermediate physical and technical level. There are some more demanding sections, but overall it is a pleasant route.

The first two days at the high valleys, as well as the descent to Lélex, will be rather easy. They will allow you to get familiarized with the equipment and to warm up your skills for progressing in a snowy terrain. On day 3 (if it’s the season) we will take the Catheline cablecar which make us gain 500 meters in altitude. Therefore the lift makes the route more accessible. The last day is a bit more demanding, when we will ascend to Lajoux.

We will spend the evenings in comfortable accommodations, either hotels or B&B, with half board meals. If you want to have accommodation arranged to the evening prior to the trip and the one in the end, please let me know (not included in the price). And, except for day 1, we will have all the lunches prepared as picnics.
