Description

The Bow-Yoho is a famous trail crossing some classic peaks and long powder slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This 5-day splitboarding trip is your chance to explore this amazing area under expert guidance. Come join me!

The traverse goes from Bow Lake to the Little Yoho Valley. We will cross the famous Wapta Icefield, which encompases five beautiful glaciers and is one of the most studied spots in the Canadian Rockies.

For this 5-day splitboarding trip you should be able to ride in all kinds of snow. Additionally, you should also have some basic mountaineering skills and be physically fit. It will be a challenging backcountry tour rewarded by majestic views.

Furthermore, we will spend the nights in the historic Stanley Mitchell Hut (2,060m) and Bow Hut (2,350m), which will make this trip a real mountaineering adventure. The Stanley Mitchell sits on a small meadow of the Little Yoho Valley, in Yoho National Park. The Bow Hut is located on the eastern side of the Wapta Icefield, within the Banff National Park.

So, if you are up for this unforgettable 5-day splitboarding tour in the Bow-Yoho Traverse, please contact me. You will love exploring the powder slopes of the Canadian Rockies!

And, if you are looking for a shorter splitboarding outing in Canada, check out my 3-day trip in Rogers Pass, east of Revelstoke.

We’ll meet in Lake Louise at the Alpine Center, get organized and go to Bow Lake to start the adventure.

Afterwards, we’ll go through a 1 hour avalanche rescue exercise.

Over the next 3-4 hours we will ascend up to Bow Hut for the first night.

Day 2: Splitboarding day

We’ll wake up early and splitboard across the Wapta Ice field to the Yoho Glacier and the high lands of Mt Collie.

This will lead us to a great run down to the Des Poilus glacier and the Des Poilus Hut.

Day 3: Splitboarding day

We will ascend the Isolated Col and enjoy an excellent descent to the Stanley Mitchel Hut.

You’ll have the opportunity to splitboard on Mt Mc Aurther (3015 m), and incredible glaciated ski descents.

Day 4: Splitboarding day

We will spend this day splitboarding along the Little Yoho Valley with great mountaineering objectives, close to the Presidents (3140 m).

Day 5: Splitboarding day / Emerald Lake

During the last day we will make our way along the Ice line trail. We will traverse the full length of the Presidents and head into Yoho Pass, which finally takes us to Emerald Lake. This is the end of a great adventure!
