Come and enjoy an exciting Via Ferrata trip in the beautiful Velky Kysel area of Slovakia with Marcel, an UIMLA certified guide.
Just walking through the Slovak Paradise National Park would make for a great experience on its own. However, on this day trip, I would like to guide you on a via ferrata adventure at the Velky Kysel. This recently reopened area is absolutely stunning. It is filled with lovely waterfalls, rivers, brooks, plantlife and gorges. The natural landscape is definitely worth admiring.
Initially exploring by via ferrata can seem intimidating. However, you will be properly secured with harnesses and wires the entire time. Thus ensuring your experience will be as safe as it is fun!
We will be meeting at one of Spisska Nova Ves, Poprad or Čingov. From one of those places, we will hike for approximately 2 hours along Čingov until we reach the via ferrata. The via ferrata path through Velky Kysel will take approximately 2 to 3 hours and will lead you to the top of the gorge. After that, we will begin our descent to Klaštorisko, where we will rest. Finally, to end the trip, we will hike for another 2 hours to Čingov.
Velky Kysel is a remarkable place. Due to its closure following an enormous forest fire 40 years earlier, the area is full of untouched nature. Hence making this trip through the area a unique experience. And exploring it along a via ferrata only adds to the uniqueness of the trip. So send me a request, and visit the Slovak paradise.
Would you like to hike through the High Tatras of Slovakia? Then join me on this day long trip to the top of the Velka Svistovka and down to the Green lake valley.
The meeting point can be Spisska Nova Ves, Poprad or Čingov depending on what you decide.
Other gear: Hiking boots, warming clothes, sunscreen, first aid kit.
I'm a UIMLA mountain leader and national tourist guide (for cultural and historical heritage trips).
I was born in Poprad in 1969. From my early childhood, I often looked out my bedroom window into the distance of the picturesque High Tatras, which fascinated me even then. In high school I started going with my friends to a small climbing "expedition" on the surrounding rocks, and later to the High Tatras. Mostly I went with a friend whose father was a member of the Mountain Rescue Service. During my studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, I loved coming back to the mountains.
In 1999 I started actively volunteering paramedic of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service, and then I was hired there.
Precisely because of my relationship with the mountains I began working as a tourist guide with a focus on mountain areas.
Since 1998 I accompany tourists from around the world to the mountains and surrounding towns.
In 2011 I got certified as mountain leader.
Besides, I have been working as a member of the Council of the Slovak Association of mountain Leaders since it was established in 2011.

Given its lofty name, Paradise National Park could have been setting itself up to be underwhelming, but it didn\'t disappoint! It truly is a paradise if you, like me, can\'t get enough of primeval woodland, stunning waterfalls and a bit of adventure along the way! Marcel was the perfect guide, and his years in the business of guiding and also mountain rescue really shone through. As well as answering all my questions about the park from a nature point of view, he also gave me a fascinating overview of Slovakia\'s cultural/political history. This was my first-ever attempt at via ferrata and he gave me a great crash course on the equipment and safety procedures so I felt fully prepared. I am now a fully committed fan and will definitely be signing up to more via ferrata trips! Thanks for a fantastic day, Marcel.
Marcel is a great guide. He showed us the beauty of slovak paradise, told great stories about the Slovakian history and nature, made fun, and supported us well during the via ferrata trail. We would highly recommend this trip with Marcel as a guide.
Absolutely brilliant day! Marcel is a great guide, knowledgeable and very safe as well as being really funny and a genuinely lovely guy. The via ferrata route was really interesting, different to Italy as it follows along the river and waterfalls. Beautiful. Marcel recommended other walks for us to do and how to get there via public transport. He was a real help. He picked us up from our accommodation and provided our equipment.
We had a wonderful trip with Michal. He met with us the evening before to go over the plan for the via Ferrata and answered all our questions. He took some wonderful photos of the trip and was so patient with our children. We felt completely safe the whole time and highly recommend the trip!
