Situated close to the Julian Alps mountains in Northwestern Slovenia, Kranjska Gora is an awesome place to enjoy some canyoning. Whether you’re looking for an extreme adventure with a 48-meter waterfall descent or something with smaller jumps suitable for families, you’ll find it here.
The Fratarica canyon in the Triglav National Park within the Julian Alps is a great spot if you are looking for an advanced canyoning experience. There you’ll be able to descend 48 meters down the Parabola waterfall on a rope. Another more advanced option is the Grmečica Canyon where you’ll find jumps of up to 15 meters. The Sušec Canyon is suitable for beginners or children over 9 years old. Canyoning on the Jerečica River is another great option for beginners.
In winter temperatures can drop to -10 and then in summer temperatures tend to rise to around 20 degrees celsius. There is a lot of snow during winter and quite a lot of rain in the summer.
Fly to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport then get the bus or drive to Kranjska Gora.
It's best to visit in the spring, summer and autumn months.
