The Muztagh Ata (7,547 m) is located a few kilometers from the border between China and Pakistan within the Autonomous Region of Sinkiang. It is the second highest peak of the Kunlun mountain range, after the Kongur. Its rounded and always snow-capped summit promises the best mountaineering experience. The ascent to this peak usually begins in the Karakul Lake and its route is not technical although it requires some prior high mountain experience as well as a good physical condition and proper acclimatization.
