The highest peak in the Tatras mountain range, the official name of Gerlach Peak is Gerlachovský štít (2654m). Technically, it is graded II or III, which makes it a great ascent for beginner mountaineers, specially considering that the normal route is usual snow-free by the beginning of the summer. Very nice climb of Gerlach with guide Robert Vrlak in early November. Convenient arrangement for this 1-day climb with Robert picking up at the local hotel and a short drive to the trailhead. Beautiful scenery and a fairly straightforward route with mostly trekking and scrambling but full winter conditions at higher elevations made this climb extra fun and a little more challenging than expected. Would greatly recommend it!
