Get ready to experience the amazing Leuthold Couloir, located on Mount Hood, on this exciting 1-day trip to the top. Located on the Cascade Range of Oregon, USA, this ascent is ideal for outdoor lovers and climbing enthusiasts. Join me to discover this beautiful gem in the Pacific Northwest.

Leuthold Couloir, on the west side of the mountain, provides an exciting steep snow climbing path to the summit of Mount Hood. The route begins at the Timberline Lodge. From there, the climb takes us to the impressive Illumination Rock. We’ll then descend to the Reid Glacier through Illumination Saddle. Once we reach the top, we’ll enjoy the incredible views of Oregon. We can then go down through the South side of the mountain back to the starting point.

The route crosses over Yocum Ridge and the Reid Headwall with incredible opportunities to enjoy the landscape. It will be necessary to use ice and snow climbing skills, which is why this trip is recommended for intermediate mountaineers.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide.
