Would you like to discover some of the most beautiful places in Nepal? Then join us on this 10-day Ghorepani Ghandruk program in the Himalayas.

The Ghorepani Ghandruk trek takes place in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is perfect for those with less trekking experience that wish to discover the wonders of the Himalayas. The sunrise at Poon Hill, the local Ghandruk lifestyle, the magical views of the mountains on the way are some of the unforgettable highlights of this program.

We will set off from Kathmandu to Pokhara first, and then from there, drive to Nayapul where we will begin our trek. Over the course of the following days, we will hike to Poon Hill and then to Ghandruk, all the while enjoying views of the mountains in the Annapurna range and crossing stunning Rhododendron forests. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Keep in mind that this trek is open to everyone, you don’t need prior mountaineering experience to join. However, as we will spend a lot of time trekking, a good fitness level is necessary. Of course, we will be there every step of the way to help and guide you. Furthermore, we will organize all of the necessary logistics.

Price details

• Nepal entry visa fee (you may easily issue the visa upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport - Kathmandu). You will require 2 passport size photos.

• Your Travel insurance.

• Food while you are in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

• All the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

• Tipping (expected by guides and porters, but not mandatory).


Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu

Arrival day check-in hotel, hang around in Kathmandu Thamel at the main tourist place. Overnight at 3-star hotel (Thamel Eco Resort or Gaju Suite Hotel).

Day 2: Pokhara

We will take an early drive/flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (914m.). We will admire green hills, beautiful valleys and some mountain views on the way. Pokhara is regarded as a tourists’ paradise with full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, temples, etc. One can have the pleasure to observe views of Phewa Taal (lake), Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Overnight at 3-star hotel (Hotel City INN or Mount view Pokhara).

Day 3: Tikhedhunga (1577m)

We will start our trek from Nayapul (1050m.). We will drive up to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, we will trek to Tikhedhunga (1577 m.) via Birethanti (1065m.) which takes about four and half hours. Overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 4: Ghorepani (2675 m.)

We trek from Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.). Today we could ascend down gently passing through Ulleri (2070m.) and Banthanti, Magar villages. On the way, one could see the majestic view of Machhapuchhre (6997m.), Huinchuli (6441m.), and Annapurna South (7219m.). Overnight at Ghorepani at tea house lodge.

Day 5: Poon Hill (3180m.) to Tadapani (2675m.)

Today we will trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m.) and then to Tadapani (2675m.). We will cover the distance within five and a half hours of normal trekking. Early in the morning, we will start our trip to Poon Hill (3180m.) to enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhre (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and numerous other snowcapped mountain peaks. Having breakfast at Ghorepani, trek to Tadapani (2650 m.) through the deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos, and oaks. En route, one can observe waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds, and green valleys. Overnight at Tadapani at tea house lodge.

Day 6: Ghandruk (1950m.)

Comparatively, today is the easiest trek of all days. We will go through Rhododendron and oak forests, and hear the soothing chirp of birds on the way. This trek also offers the best alternative for bird lovers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. There is a handicraft center and Gurung museum. From this village, you could observe good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7455m.), Annapurna III (7755m.) and Fishtail. Ghandruk village is listed as a World Heritage Site. Overnight at Ghandruk. In the evening, a typical Gurung Cultural program will be organized on demand. At tea house lodge.

Day 7: Ghandruk (1950m.) to Nayapul then Pokhara (1990m.)

Trek from Ghandruk (1950m.) to Nayapul (1990m.). The rest of the trail descends gently down to Dhampus passing through Pothana village (1900m.). Then drive back to Pokhara from Nayapul. Overnight at 3-star hotel (Hotel City INN or Mount view Pokhara).

Day 8: Rest day in Pokhara

You can join an adventure program like paragliding, ziplining, ultra-light, etc. (not included in the price),  or rest in Pokhara. Overnight at 3-star hotel (Hotel City INN or Mount view Pokhara)

Day 9: Pokhara to Kathmandu

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus. After a normal drive of seven hours, we reach Kathmandu. While driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, we head up to Damauli, Dumre, Muglin, and Kurintar where Nepal’s first Cable Car is operated to reach to Manakamana Temple. One can also fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Overnight at 3-star hotel (Thamel Eco Resort or Gaju Suite Hotel).

Day 10: Departure

We hebben echt genoten van onze trekking naar ABC. Jammer genoeg waren er echter overal problemen met de kamer. We hebben dan expres via een agency geboekt en meer betaald, zodat we zeker een kamer overal zouden krijgen. Dit bleek dan een probleem te zijn, omdat er niets op voorhand was geboekt. Ook hebben we last minute (letterlijk 5 min voor de 1e ontmoeting) een bericht van Hari gekregen dat we een andere guide zouden krijgen. Hierbij kregen we geen uitleg. De nieuwe guide had geen EHBO kit mee en wist ook helemaal niet wat allemaal inbegrepen was in onze boeking. Dit was opzich geen probleem, maar het leek plots allemaal niet meer zo goed georganiseerd als het beloofde te zijn. Ondanks dit hebben we echt wel genoten van onze tocht en zijn we blij dat we het gedaan hebben.
