The Capitol Peak (4309 m) is considered to be one of Colorado’s most difficult ascents especially because of its exposed knife-edge ridge. It is located west of Aspen, at the heart of the Elk Mountain Range.
For this trip we have designed an overnight mountaineering program that will allow you to enjoy the best of Colorado’s outdoors. We will hike up to the Capitol Lake on the first day. There we will camp and enjoy the amazing mountain scenery underneath the Capitol Peak’s northwest face. And at night you will get to see a cavalcade of beautiful stars.
Early the next morning we will start making our ascent before dawn. It will be a demanding day. We will make our way up steep trails and we will use our hands to get across the famous knife-edge. Throughout the trip, the views you will get to enjoy will be breathtaking. And the feeling you will have at the peak’s summit will be unparalleled.
So send us a request, tell us when you’re coming to visit us and we’ll get this 2-day Capitol Peak ascent in Aspen, Colorado all prepared for you.
