Description

Located in the Iberian Peninsula, Sierra de Gredos is one of the most popular destinations for hiking and mountaineering in Spain. Discover incredible mountains and spend the night in the Refugio Laguna Grande on this 2-day adventure.

On the first day of the program, we’ll depart from La Plataforma and start the ascent through Las Escaleruelas and Prao Puerto, until Puerto de Candeleda (2,080 meters). The path we’ll follow is an old trail formerly used by farmers to transfer their herd. Then, we’ll continue to the ruins of El Refugio del Rey and reach the peak El Morezón (2,389 meters), from where we’ll contemplate the amazing Circo de Gredos. Lastly, we’ll descend to our refuge in Laguna Grande, where we’ll get to rest and spend the night.

On the second day of the program, we’ll hike in the direction of Ameal de Pablo, a rock formation in Circo de Gredos, and get to see great views of the Almanzor, the highest peak in the range. Then, we’ll ascend to El Venteadero mountain pass (2,484 meters) and descend through El Gargantón to return to our starting point.

Please, take into account that we’ll cover a distance of 10-12 kilometers per day and face very steep slopes. That’s why it’s mandatory to have a very good physical condition for this program.

If you want, we can arrange the transportation to and from the start of the program for an additional cost. Also, I'll be happy to make suggestions for your accommodation in the local area. As for personal equipment, don't forget to bring waterproof mountain boots, 20 liters bag, waterproof mountain coat, polar fleece, thermal clothes, mountain trousers, two pairs of gloves, hat, cap, sunglasses and sun lotion.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
