Madrid is an exemplary destination for any hiking enthusiast. To the north, the Sierra de Guadarrama tower over the city, providing incredible views and plenty of hiking trails to follow. A bit farther to the west, the Sierra de Gredos provides an even more remote and equally stunning experience. Among the favourites in this mountain range is spending a couple of days heading to Cathedral Ridge and the Great Tower. Just a little farther east of the Sierra de Gredos is the Sierra de Bejar and Hoyamoros. Trekking through the mountains and camping under the stars in this part of Spain makes you feel like you are within the pages of Don Quijote
