Follow me on an incredible and unique hike to the breathtaking La Pedriza Manzanares in Spain.
Located in the stunning Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, La Pedriza Manzanares is a dazzling geological feature of great scenic interest, that gets its name from the rock formations all around the park. Only 45 minutes away from Madrid, it is perfect for outdoor lovers. There’s plenty of options for rock climbers and hikers to spend a wonderful time in a quiet setting.
On this adventure, we’ll explore the rock formations while I teach you about the park’s geological history. We’ll meet at Manzanares el Real and access the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park to discover all its particular rock formations. Then we will ascend to the Giner de los Ríos Refuge and to Yelmo, the park’s most emblematic location. Finally, we’ll return back down to our meeting spot.

Pedro was so knowledgeable about the area, and graciously answered all our questions, even those unrelated to the hike. He was very kind in picking us up from Madrid for a small fee. He also took a bunch of photos of my husband and I during the trek, which I really appreciated since those are our only pictures together from our trip to Spain. I'd definitely recommend Pedro to anyone traveling to Madrid and interested in experiencing nature outside the city.
