Rising to 3.742 meters above sea level, Mount Adams is the second highest mountain in Washington State and an incredible mountaineering experience!
Home to glaciers, waterfalls, alpine forests and meadows, as well as hardened lava flows, Mount Adams is both spectacularly scenic all while not being overly challenging.
No previous mountaineering experience is required to climb the peak, just a good level of physical fitness.
We will begin our trip by meeting up in Seattle and making the 5 hour drive to the trailhead at Bird Creek Meadows. From here, we will hike up to Sunrise Pass and make our camp.
Getting up early the next morning, we will practice a few necessary techniques to climb the mountain, including self-arrest, crevasse rescue and glacier travel techniques.
The following day is summit day and we will again get up early, about 2 am, and begin our ascent. Depending on weather conditions and the pace of the group, it will take between 6 and 8 hours to reach the top.
The views from the top are spectacular. There are unobstructed vistas out over Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier and Mount Hood, as well as the rest of the surrounding territory.
After a brief spell at the top, we will begin to climb back down the mountain, spending one last night at our camp, before packing up our gear and hiking back to the trailhead.
Group dates are listed below. Contact us to request a quote for a private trip if you cann0t make these dates.
