Description

Rising 3.286 meters above sea level and offering excellent views from its summit, Mount Baker is one of the most sought after climbs for beginner and intermediate mountaineers.

The mountain is nestled within the Northern Cascade Range and sits less than 50 kilometers from the Canadian border. It is covered by 12 active glaciers and offers incredible views all the way down to Mount Rainier in the south and the San Juan Islands to the west.

Over the course of three days, we will ascend the peak via the Easton Glacier. Meeting up early on the first day in Seattle, we will make the 2.5 hour drive to the trailhead at Schreiber's Meadow.

From here, we take the gear and hike for 3 to four 4 through an ancient and lush forest, high alpine meadows and some snow before reaching our high camp. We will spend the afternoon practicing essential mountaineering techniques.

We begin our second day very early, around 2 or 3 am, and start the climb. Depending on the weather and pace of the group, the ascent usually takes between 5 and 7 hours.

From the top of the North Cascades' tallest volcano, we will enjoy stunning views out over the snow-capped peaks and take some incredible photos before returning back to the high camp and relaxing for the afternoon.

On the third day, we pack up camp and hike back to the trailhead, before returning to Seattle. We should be back where we started by about 6 or 7 pm.

Depending on the weather, we may have to make the ascent on the third day, which means, we wouldn't get back to Seattle until 9 or 10 pm.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
