Description

Standing tall at 2.782 meters in elevation, Mount Shuksan is a symbol of the rugged peaks that characterize the Northern Cascade Range in Washington state.

Not only is the peak among the most photographed in the world, but it is also an excellent mountain for advanced beginners and intermediate mountaineers to test their mettle.

Over the course of our three day experience, we will do just that, climbing the mountain via the Sulphide Glacier route. This route offers us some fantastic scenery, good glacier travel and a thrilling climb to finish it all off.

We’ll begin our adventure in Seattle, where we will meet up and make the two or so hour drive to the trailhead. From here, we will hike to our base camp, passing through dense forests, over alpine meadows and up to the foot of the glacier.

We’ll enjoy one particularly stunning view out over Mount Baker and the Picket Range as we go as well.

Once we have arrived at base camp, we will go over some necessary mountaineering skills that we will use on the ascent the following day.

Getting an early start – between 2 and 3 am – we will begin our ascent by climbing across the glacier until we reach the foot of the 210-meter high summit pyramid.

At this point, we will begin the final climb, with pitched climbing and belaying. This will soon turn into a mixture of snow and easier rock climbing until we reach the summit.

From the top, we will enjoy the phenomenal views out over the rest of the Northern Cascades before returning to base camp and then hiking back down to the cars and returning to Seattle the following day.

So what are you waiting for? Book now for this thrilling, scenic and fun 3-day mountaineering experience to the summit of Mount Shuksan in the Northern Cascade Range of Washington!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
