Description

The Fanes Group is an Italian mountain range that belongs to the Dolomites, and is a popular destination among winter sports lovers. This 4-day trip is your chance to explore this region on an awesome ski touring experience!

Located to the east of the Val Badia valley, in the comunes of Badia and Corvara (South Tyrol), the Fanes offer stunning powder terrain. Considered a highlight for ski touring, most of its peaks are protected by the scenic Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park.

On this 4-day expedition, we will climb to amazing uncrowded spots to enjoy long descents on top-quality snow. Monte Castello, Cima Ciamin and Sela de Sennes are some of the areas that we can explore. In addition, we will stay in cozy mountain huts and try delicious local dishes!

Please note that this trip is suitable for intermediate ski tourers with a good fitness level. However, if you are an expert, I will make sure to find some challenging descents for you!

So, ¿what are you waiting for? If you want to experience some fabulous ski touring in the Dolomites, please contact me. Let’s explore the Fanes Group and live an amazing winter adventure!

I can also take you to the Silvretta Alps for a similar tour. Check it out here.

Mountain Guide

Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Patrick & Walter (German speaking), Paolo, Matteo, Davide, Giorgia and Luca.

If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).

Feel free to get in touch with me if you are coming in the Dolomites for skiing (alpine, freeride and ski touring), rock climbing, sport climbing and multi pitch climbing. It will be my pleasure to guide you here and let you discover my secret spots.

What people are saying about Renato & Guides' team

Jordan

Robert was very friendly and a great instructor. The via ferrata he took us on was amazing!

Matthew

First, it was an amazing trip. Robert was great, although different than guides in the US. He was more hands off. Example, he brought the gear, we put it on, and he said let's go. At the obstacles, he briefly described what we'd do, then we'd go. We have experience so this worked fine. He was friendly and accommodating, but interaction was light. He provided a sense of security and lead us, but we also felt that we owned the experience. I'm used to guides being right next to you the entire time so this was different. I found it empowering. As with most experiences in the area, you may not hear from the guide until 1-2 days prior to the trip. Overall, there is no question we were glad to have Robert.

Alden

Robert was fun to climb with, a good teacher, and a good photographer!

Dara

Had no idea you need a car in the Dolomites. Was not staying in town and didn’t have a car. My guide was so so kind to help me get to the trailhead! I was solo and he was very nice to take photos for me.

Rosie

We had a fantastic time trying something new and the views were stunning. We were given the option of two via ferrata by our guide and felt that our chosen route was challenging enough but not too intimidating for a first go. Roberto was very knowledgeable and experienced and, as it turns out, also a great photographer!
