Description

Mountaineers who have spent the majority of their lives climbing great peaks around the globe never stop learning new skills, while improving the ones they already possess. As a result, for those who are just entering the world of mountaineering, it is crucial to learn the basics, the fundamentals before progressing to more challenging lessons. Thus, why I am happy to offer this 5-day, basic level mountaineering course in the Andes of Chile, near the wonderful city of Santiago.

Throughout the 5-days of this course, you will learn a great deal. Much will be covered, all of which will be important and beneficial for your future mountaineering expeditions.

Some examples of what you will be learning during this course includes the following.

Security and risk management
Orientation (how to use a compass and topographic chart)
Mountain equipment and clothing
Proper walking techniques on rough terrain
Setting up camps
First aid and rescue techniques in the mountains
Itinerary planning

Since this is a basic level course, it is perfect for beginners. However, you should be in good physical condition as we will practice what you are learning in the mountains. Furthermore, during the course, you will also get to enjoy some magnificent views. Also, because the course takes place near Santiago, you will have a convenient and enjoyable base.

Adolfo

For more than 20 years I have worked as a guide in Chile. Join me and I´ll be able to show you the wonderful spots that the Andes offer to those who share my passion for big mountains.

I live in Santiago de Chile, the Chilean capital, where there are many options for high altitude ascents, even over 6,000 meters, in close proximity to the city. I also regularly organize trips to the Chilean Altiplano, where there are many mountains over 6000 meters. However, the main attraction of these trips is to witness the intensity and loneliness of the Atacama Desert.

I would love to have the opportunity to share these magical moments with you and help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
