Orienteering course in the Central Andes near Santiago, Chile (2 days)

It is easy to get lost in the mountains or take an incorrect path along a route. Hence, why orientation is a skill that must be learned, practiced and perfected in order to ensure a safe and successful expedition. That is why I am happy to offer this 2-day orienteering course in the central Andes of Chile, near Santiago.

Throughout this course, we will focus on cartography and orientation. You will be taught how to design and follow a route in the mountains safely and securely.

The course will consist of one day in the mountains and one day focusing on theory in a classroom.

Some of what we will cover during this course includes the following.

• Basic concepts of cartography

• Natural orientation

• Reading topographic maps

• Orientation with natural elements

• How to use a compass and follow a map

• How to read and interpret terrain

• Planning and executing an ascent using different techniques

To participate on this course, you should be in good physical condition.
