Description

Come ride the unforgettable terrain of the Ötztal Valley during this 5-day splitboarding tour!  I will guide you to the highlights of the area for an incredible, yet challenging, alpine adventure!

Located in the region of Tyrol between the Ötztal and Stubai Alps, the mountains and glaciers of the Ötztal Valley draw outdoor adventurers who want to explore the stunning landscape.  The mountains are especially breathtaking in wintertime when they are completely blanketed in white.  Of course, this also makes the area a perfect destination for a 5-day splitboard tour.  There is no better reward for a tough ascent than a thrilling descent.

This 5-day trip will be a nonstop adventure!  We will visit many highlights of the area, including summits of such worthy peaks as Wildspitze (3,768 m), Fluchtkogel (3, 497m), and Similaun (3,606 m).  I will use my local knowledge of the routes and conditions to make sure you have the best experience possible, as we pack our days with adventure and exhilarating rides through the fresh powder of the gorgeous Austrian backcountry.  I’ve included a little more information below on the itinerary so you can get an idea of just how amazing the trip will be!

In order to participate, you should be comfortable riding on a variety of different backcountry terrains.  This is definitely a challenging program, and a solid fitness level is required for tough ascents of up to 8 hours.  We will be based in various mountain refuges for this program.

Itinerary

Day 1: Martin Busch Hut

After we meet in Vent and complete a gear check, we head to Martin Busch Hut at 2,501 m.  We’ll brush up on our avalanche safety skills and discuss the plan for the upcoming days.

Day 2: Similaun (3,606 m)

Today we head up our first mountain!

We begin on a gentle slope before reaching a steeper section before we reach the summit.

After, we head to Similaun Hut where we stay for the night.

Day 3: Finail Spitze (3,514 m)

We embark on a different kind of adventure, as we visit the resting place of Ötzi, the Ice Man.  We will have the option to complete a second summit if we wish, reaching the peak of Finail Spitze.

From there, we descend to Hochjoch Hospiz for the night.

Day 4: Fluchtkogel (3,497 m)

Today the plan is to push to the summit of Fluchtkogel at 3,497 m.  There are a couple of different routes we can take.  We will use ropes and harnesses during the steepest passages.

After reaching the summit, we head to Vernagt hut (2,755 m) for the night.

Day 5: Wildspitze (3,768 m)

Today we tackle the 2nd highest peak in Austria – Wildspitze (3,768 m)!

After this last adventure, we complete the long descent back to Vent, where the program ends.

We had a great time with Andreas. He is very professional and experienced guide. He provided good safety session before our trip and provided personal safety equipment for a very reasonable price. His choice of routes were correctly matched to our abilities to challenge us and provide quite an exciting time. We would never be able to experience this kind of skiing without a guide and Andi was a great choice. I would highly recommend him to any clients from a beginners to a professionals. Also I enjoyed using your site for booking guide services. You were fast and informative. Transaction was simple, transparent and rate was very competetive. Thank you
