Description

Lemmenjoki National Park is vast and sprawls over 2.850 square kilometers in the remote Finnish Lapland region, making it the largest and northernmost national park in the country.

In the winter, the boreal forests and small fells (mountains) are covered in light and deep powder, making the national park the perfect place for an incredible backcountry skiing experience.

Over the course of 8 days, we will explore this remote and beautiful wilderness, getting the chance to see some of the local wildlife as well as the pristine natural scenery. Silent and snow-covered old growth forests along with fells and the Ravadasköngä frozen waterfall are among just some of the highlights.

Along the way, we will learn various wilderness survival skills, including how to build a snow shelter, in which you can opt to spend the night.

On the other nights, we will stay in a cozy mountain hut and even get to spend one of them in a traditional Finnish Kota shelter, which is a tent-like space constructed of wooden poles and reindeer hide or textiles (similar to a teepee).

During the nighttime hours is also when we will have the best chance to see the Northern Lights. With no light pollution in the sky, Lemmenjoki National Park is an ideal spot for seeing the atmospheric phenomenon.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
