Description

Considered one of the best short treks in all of Nepal, the Ghorepani Poonhill Sunrise trek combines all the elements of a great adventure into one 9-day experience!

Starting from Kathmandu, we will fly on to the stunningly scenic city of Pokhara. Nestled in between Himalayan foothills and a pristine lake, it is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the whole country.

From here, the trekking really begins. After a short transfer to Nayapul, we will start hiking through stunning alpine and forest scenery.

As we will pass by numerous villages as we go, some of which we will stay in. While we're unwinding after a long day of walking, we'll get to meet the people who call this beautiful part of the world home and learn a little bit about their culture.

The highlight of the trip will be once we reach Ghorepani. After enjoying stunning views of some of the most iconic peaks in Nepal, we will turn in nice and early for the climax of the trip.

Getting a pre-dawn start, we will make our way up to the top of Poonhill and watch as the sunrises over the Himalayas: a truly sublime experience.

Afterward, we begin trekking back toward Pokhara, enjoying phenomenal views and visiting more villages as we go.

One of our stops will be to the village of Ghandruk. Here, we will visit a museum celebrating the local Gurung culture and spend the evening soaking in some local hot springs.

Finally, we will arrive in Pokhara and fly back to Kathmandu the following day, where we will celebrate a successful conclusion to our trip with a special dinner and traditional show.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

After flying into the airport in Kathmandu, you will meet with one of our representatives and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 2: Kathmandu - Pokhara

We will either fly or make the 6 hour drive to Pokhara – one of the most beautiful cities in Nepal. We will have the afternoon free to explore the city and prepare for the trek.

Day 3: Pokhara - Nayapul - Tikhedhunga/Ulleri

The day begins early with a two hour drive to Nayapul. From here, we will begin our hike to Ghorepani entering the Annapurna Sanctuary and continuing on to Tikhedhunga.

Day 4: Tikhedhunga/Ulleri-Ghorepani

We will continue trekking through the stunning Himalayan scenery, passing through little villages on a forested trail until we reach Ghorepani.

Day 5: Sunrise from Poonhill - Tadapani

We will get up before dawn in order to hike up Poonhill and see a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas. From here, we begin a scenic trek back toward Pokhara, finishing for the day in the village of Tadapani.

Day 6: Tadapani - Ghandruk/Hot Spring

We will continue making our way back to Pokhara, mostly hiking downhill until we reach Ghandruk. Here, we will head to the hot springs and spend an afternoon soaking.

Day 7: Ghandruk - Nayapul - Pokhara

We finish off the trekking portion of the trip continuing downhill to Nayapul. From here, we will drive back to Pokhara.

Day 8: Pokhara - Kathmandu

We will either fly or drive back to Kathmandu, where we will go out for a celebration dinner and cultural show.

Day 9: Departure from Nepal

We will take you back to the airport and say our goodbyes.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
