Discover the magic of the Pre-Alps d’Azur Natural Park on a magical evening hike. Just a short distance from the French Riviera, this wild and panoramic region offers sweeping views of the Côte d’Azur coastline and the Mercantour mountains.
Perfect for enjoying the sunset, the changing colors of daylight, and, by the end of the hike, a starry sky—sometimes with the full moon, sometimes with a moonless night to better see the Milky Way.
The Préalpes d’Azur Natural Park, so close to the coast yet still wild, faces west, making it an ideal place to share the last golden moments of the day in wide-open landscapes. One of the most beautiful starry skies in Europe ! We even enjoy a friendly meal, sometimes by the fire. In summer, watch shooting stars; in autumn, warm golden colors with the sound of stags calling; in winter, magical light—sometimes with snowshoes.
Guided by a state-certified mountain leader, you’ll explore hand-picked panoramic trails—about 20 different routes across the year.

What we’ll discover : special spots to watch the sunset with panoramic views, either in the Préalpes d’Azur or the Verdon area, where you can see the entire Côte d’Azur and the Mercantour mountains. Around 20 different routes to enjoy throughout the year ! A warm crêpe offered by your guide…
Schedule : Departures between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, returns between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm, depending on the season.
Level : Usually 5 to 7 km (3 to 4.5 miles) with 200 to 400 m (650 to 1,300 ft) of uphill climb. Around 3 hours of walking with a 30-minute dinner break.
Equipment you will need to bring
Warm fleece, Headlamp or strong portable light (fully charged), Hiking shoes suitable for stony paths, 1 bottle of water, 1 sandwich (for the dinner break)

I booked a tour with Fabrice on late May, definitely the highlight of my holiday, we went on a hike around Casterino It was a relaxed hike with great sights of mountain forests and lakes, I got to see some of the local fauna and flora of the park, ibex, marmots, chamois, although not as much as they would be in the area, possibly because of the wolfs (we saw some footprints). Overall it is a great way to see the surroundings. I would definitely recommend Fabrice as a guide for your next hike!
